How customer data and AI services flow: Data protection at a glance
Controller
blueSky Information GmbH (brand Protime), Switzerland. The directory registerbuch.ch is a service provided by Protime · blueSky Information GmbH; the former address hr.protime.ai has permanently redirected here since 18 October 2026.
Data protection enquiries: datenschutz@registerbuch.ch
Purpose
The directory makes public information from the Swiss commercial register findable and verifiable: one page per company with the officially published details and the history of publications in the Swiss Official Gazette of Commerce (SOGC); per registered person, the functions in companies published in the SOGC; per statutory auditor, the companies that list it as their statutory auditor. Every detail references the official publication.
What data we display
Companies: Company name, legal form, UID, registered office and legal domicile, purpose, capital, date and heading of the SOGC publications with a link to the official notice. Where published, additionally the statutory auditor (named only if it is itself a company) and the size resulting from an opting-out of a limited statutory audit (“no more than 10 full-time positions”, Art. 727a para. 2 CO). For individual companies, we display an estimated number of employees and a revenue bracket; this is designated as an estimate (see sources) and can be reported directly as inaccurate.
Registered persons: Persons who have been published in the SOGC with a function in a company (for example, member of the board of directors, managing director, authorised signatory). We display surname, first name, place of origin, place of residence (locality, no address), function, signing authority, date of entry and resignation, the company and the link to the official publication. Whether a function is “current” or “terminated” is derived from the published appointments and departures; this is not an official statement. With an account and register access, a company’s governing bodies and a person’s functions can also be queried as of a key date: status according to publications on the selected date, derived from the same published appointments and departures. For this purpose, you log in to Protime (protime.ai); subsequently, we place a necessary session cookie (24 hours) on this website and a short-lived cookie (20 minutes) during the login process. To switch from protime.ai to this site, we store a one-time code together with your account identifier for a maximum of 60 seconds. We only merge entries of the same name if the place of origin also matches.
Corporate bankruptcies: On a person’s page, we state the companies against which bankruptcy proceedings were opened in the last 24 months and in which the person was registered on the board of directors or in executive management, with a link to the official bankruptcy publication. If no place of origin is published for an entry, we additionally indicate how many further entries of the same name with the same place of residence and the same nationality exist, and for how many of them a corporate bankruptcy was published, solely as a number and cantons. We do not merge these entries; whether it is the same person cannot be reliably determined from the publications. In the case of frequent names in large residential localities, we do not display this notice.
Statutory auditors: per statutory auditor with UID, the companies that list it as their statutory auditor, and whether this is still valid according to the published records.
Not displayed are residential addresses and dates of birth of individuals, bankruptcy and debt collection data of natural persons, as well as credit ratings or other evaluations.
Person page: Corporate bankruptcies of the last 24 months
Since 15 October 2026, the person page displays a dedicated section with companies against which bankruptcy proceedings were opened in the last 24 months and in which the person was registered on the board of directors or in executive management — up to the bankruptcy or up to a maximum of two years prior. Only legal entities and only companies that are reliably assigned to the person are taken into account. Every detail references the official publication. A corporate bankruptcy constitutes no statement about the conduct of a person.
Person pages: Discoverability and protection
Pages on individuals and statutory auditors are blocked for search engines (“noindex”), are not listed in any sitemap and can only be accessed via the search function in this directory. The number of queries is limited per connection. In addition, a daily limit for queries on individuals applies collectively to all visitors without an account; beyond this, we only display personal data to logged-in visitors. The counter for this contains neither addresses nor names. If any of these restrictions fails, we do not deliver any personal data. The URL of a person page does not contain the name in plain text.
Sources
Swiss Official Gazette of Commerce (SOGC, amtsblattportal.ch, SECO) and the Central Business Name Index (Zefix) (Federal Commercial Registry Office). Both sources are official and public by law (Art. 936 ff. CO). Each page states the source and status.
Publications prior to 2002 (currently the volumes 1994 to 2001) originate from the digitised copies of the printed SOGC of the ETH Library (E-Periodica). We read them using optical character recognition (OCR); reading errors are therefore possible. In a random sample for the 2001 volume, around 0.4% of the entries contained a factual error (such as a person associated with the wrong company; statistical range 0.2 to 0.8%). Where we display supporting evidence for such entries, it is marked as optical character recognition and links to the page of the ETH Library instead of an official PDF. You can report errors to us via the objection form.
We do not display these publications prior to 2002 publicly or in the person search, but only to customers with Register Access and the Archive Package, and only starting from a company (company page, status as of a key date, access via AI assistant). We log every access to the archive with account, company and time in order to be able to trace misuse; we delete the log after two years. It contains no names of persons and no search terms.
For the estimated number of employees, we use the information stated on the company’s own website (the source is linked) and verify it independently; from this, we calculate the revenue bracket using the industry average from the VAT statistics of the Federal Tax Administration. It is an estimate, not an official figure.
Recipients
Company and person pages are publicly accessible. Customers with register access can additionally query the same information using extended queries (for example, as of a key date) and via their AI assistants (MCP interface); they are bound by the terms of use (purpose limitation, section 4.3). If a customer further processes the information in their own systems, particularly in AI assistants, they are solely responsible for doing so. A bulk dataset export is not available.
Retention and updating
The data are updated daily with the SOGC publications; the date of the last publication taken into account is stated on every page. Deleted companies remain visible as a historical register status with a deletion notice, just as the commercial register itself maintains them. For faster delivery, we cache pages and query results: A block or correction becomes visible on person and statutory auditor pages within one hour at the latest, and on company pages and industry overviews generally within a few hours.
Legal basis
Reproduction of register data that are public by law: The commercial register is public; its entries are made accessible on the Internet free of charge (Art. 936 para. 1 and 2 CO) and published electronically in the Swiss Official Gazette of Commerce (Art. 936a CO). The Confederation makes the data of registered natural persons accessible on the Internet free of charge for individual queries (Art. 928b para. 3 CO, Art. 14a para. 1bis CRO), and likewise the data of legal entities (Art. 928b para. 2 CO, Art. 14 CRO; they produce no legal effects). We use the SOGC data pursuant to the terms of use of SECO. The processing is based on our overriding interest in the findability and verifiability of public register information (Art. 31 para. 1 FADP), within the scope of the purpose for which the data were published.
Your rights
We cannot inform the persons published in the register individually: The register contains no contact details, and it concerns a very large number of persons (Art. 20 para. 2 FADP). This page therefore serves as our information to you; every person page references it.
You can request access, object to the display and report inaccurate information. If this concerns you personally, we will block the information concerned upon your request; in the case of companies and statutory auditors, where there is an overriding interest. Incorrect details that originated with us (such as through text recognition, assignment, or translation) are blocked promptly following review. If the accuracy cannot be clarified, we note the request in our records and do not display the information until clarified. Errors in the official entry are corrected by the cantonal commercial register office. For this purpose, use the form under Objection and correction — the links on each company, person and statutory auditor page prefill it — or write to datenschutz@registerbuch.ch. Prior to blocking and prior to providing access, we confirm your identity via the provided email address. Following confirmation of identity, we block within one working day; we respond to corrections and requests for access within 30 days.
What information we hold about you personally, where it originates from, to whom it is disclosed and how long we retain it can be requested free of charge via Access to my data.
We adopt any rectifying publication by the cantonal commercial register office with the daily update.
AI services and disclosure abroad
The register data themselves are hosted in Switzerland (Zurich). For processing — such as reading publication texts, assigning publications to companies and estimating company size — we use Google Gemini via the Google AI interface (Gemini API, Google LLC). Google does not specify the processing location for this; processing may take place outside Switzerland and the EEA, in particular in the USA. Under contract, Google does not use the data to train its models and stores them for a maximum of 55 days for abuse detection. Officially published details are transmitted; visitor data of this website are not disclosed to AI services. Details on the AI services can be found in section 10 of the Protime Privacy Policy (below).
Upon request, we translate the corporate purpose of companies limited by shares (AG) and limited liability companies (GmbH) on the company page by machine into the language of the page, using the same service (Gemini API, Google LLC). Only the officially published purpose text is transmitted, no information about you. We store the translation per company and language so that it is only generated once. It is not official, and the original text always appears alongside it. The translation is designated in the interface as a machine translation; the published wording is authoritative.
Emails to datenschutz@registerbuch.ch and kontakt@registerbuch.ch are forwarded to our mailbox by Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., USA); Cloudflare does not store the content in doing so, and the forwarding log contains only sender, recipient and timestamp. The forwarding may take place outside Switzerland and the EEA, in particular in the USA.
A request from the objection and correction form reaches us as an email via the delivery service Twilio SendGrid (Twilio Inc., USA) and the forwarding by Cloudflare. The email contains the content of the form.
Google LLC, Twilio Inc. and Cloudflare, Inc. are certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; for certified companies, the USA is considered a country with adequate data protection (Annex 1 DPO).
Web analytics
Only if you consent in the notice at the bottom of the page do we load Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd.) and measure which pages are accessed; the data may be processed in the USA in this process (Google LLC). Without consent, nothing is loaded. Even with consent, pages concerning individuals, lists of names and statutory auditors are never measured. We store your choice in your browser; you can revoke it at any time via “Web analytics settings” at the bottom of the page, which will also delete the analytics cookies.
Company pages of sole proprietorships and partnerships bear the name of the owner. We also measure these page views only with your consent and without any reference to you personally; we never measure person and statutory auditor pages.
Website data protection
For further visitor data of this website (server logs), the Protime Privacy Policy applies.
The map on the industry pages loads its map tiles directly from the Federal Office of Topography swisstopo (vectortiles.geo.admin.ch); swisstopo thereby receives your IP address, as with any retrieval of a web page. The map does not set cookies. It is only loaded when you scroll to it.
