Legal
Terms of Use
These terms apply to the use of registerbuch.ch, with and without an account. Anyone using the site agrees to them.
As of: 21 October 2026
1. Scope and Provider
registerbuch.ch is a service provided by Protime, a brand of blueSky Information GmbH, Pilatusstrasse 41, 6003 Luzern (UID CHE-112.731.559). Full details can be found in the Legal Notice.
For the purchase of Register Access and for the account with Protime, the Protime Terms of Use also apply (see section 10).
2. No Official Service
registerbuch.ch is not an official authority and not a commercial register. We do not send invoices for register entries or publications. Anyone who receives such an invoice in the name of registerbuch.ch should not pay it and should report it to us.
The official sources are the Swiss Official Gazette of Commerce (SOGC, amtsblattportal.ch) and the Central Business Name Index (Zefix). Only the entry in the commercial register is authoritative. You can obtain a certified commercial register extract from the competent cantonal commercial register office.
3. Services
3.1 Searching on the Web
Searching on registerbuch.ch is free of charge and possible without an account: companies, persons published in the SOGC with their functions and statutory auditors, each with reference to the official publication.
3.2 Register Access in the AI Assistant
With the paid Register Access, you query the same details in your AI assistant, for example in Claude or ChatGPT (MCP interface). This includes extended queries such as the status as of a key date. Without a subscription, access can be tried free of charge for a limited number of companies and persons (section 4.2).
3.3 Changes to the Service
We may amend, expand or restrict content, functions and the free service at any time. Section 10 applies to paid subscriptions.
4. Use
4.1 Principle
The details originate from public register publications and are provided for informational purposes. They do not constitute legal, tax or financial advice and are not official proof. You may use them within the scope of section 4.3. Decisions with legal or economic implications, such as contracts, loans, hiring or mandates, should not be based solely on this directory; instead, verify the official register extract and the official publication. You are solely responsible for your decisions and their consequences.
4.2 Usage Limits
Queries on the web are limited per connection. This search throttle protects the directory from automated queries; once reached, searches are blocked for a while.
From 20 November 2026, an additional daily and monthly limit applies to person searches on the web: without login 3 persons per day, with login to Protime 10 persons per day and a maximum of 50 persons per month. Companies and statutory auditors do not count towards this. With Register Access, the monthly quota of the following paragraph applies instead of this limit.
Register Access includes 3'000 different companies, persons and statutory auditors per calendar month, counted jointly. Anyone checking the same company multiple times counts it once. Without a subscription, the trial includes 3 companies or persons with a private email address and 25 with a company email address, counted per company domain.
4.3 Purpose Limitation and Prohibited Use
Use of this information is permitted to check and monitor your own existing or prospective business relationships, and to meet your own statutory due-diligence obligations, in particular under anti-money-laundering law. The following are prohibited in particular:
- combining the personal data provided with data from other sources to form profiles of natural persons
- systematic extraction to build a separate data holding
- automated mass queries, including via programs, scripts or crawlers
- disclosure or resale to third parties
- use unrelated to your own business relationship, in particular investigating private individuals
- use for advertising without recipient consent (Swiss Unfair Competition Act Art. 3(1)(o))
The purpose limitation also applies to use without an account. Anyone who further processes the details in their own systems, specifically in AI assistants, in their own datasets or together with other data sources, is independently responsible for this processing under data protection law.
Anyone obtaining the details via Register Access in an AI assistant or via an interface shall not mirror them, store them permanently in their own datasets, or pass them on to third parties beyond what section 4.3 permits. Blocks and corrections that we carry out also apply to details that you retrieved previously: you may not continue to use blocked details once you become aware of the block.
In the event of a breach, we may block queries, exclude connections from use and terminate Register Access (section 10).
4.4 Register Access in the AI Assistant
The AI assistant (for example Claude or ChatGPT) is the product of a third party. We supply it with the details including the source; how it summarises, interprets or supplements them is beyond our influence. You are responsible for the outputs of the assistant, for your inputs and for further processing in your systems. You protect your access credentials and keys; queries via your access are deemed to be your queries, even if triggered by third parties, until you have reported misuse to us.
5. Accuracy of Details
We reproduce the official publications as they were published. Publications prior to 2002 originate from the digitised copies of the printed SOGC of the ETH Library and have been read using optical character recognition; reading errors are possible.
In addition, we display our own, automatically generated derivations and mark them as such: for example the aggregation of entries regarding a person by name and place of origin, the attribution of publications to a company, the machine translation of the company purpose, whether a function is current or terminated, company bankruptcies in a managerial role over the last 24 months and the estimated company size. Derivations may be incorrect and are not official information. Estimates are designated as estimates.
We warrant neither the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of the details nor their fitness for a specific purpose; this applies in particular to derivations, optical character recognition, translations and estimates. Delays and omissions are possible. Before making decisions with legal implications, obtain an official extract.
6. Data Protection, Objection and Correction
How we process data, where it originates and what rights you have is set out under Data Protection. We do not use personal data from the register for our own advertising, for acquiring clients or for contacting registered persons.
If a detail concerns yourself or is incorrect, use the form Objection and correction or write to datenschutz@registerbuch.ch. Incorrect details that originated with us (such as through text recognition, assignment, or translation) are blocked promptly following review. If the accuracy cannot be clarified, we note the request in our records and do not display the information until clarified. Errors in the official entry are corrected by the cantonal commercial register office.
7. Availability
We endeavour to ensure trouble-free operation, but do not warrant any specific availability. Maintenance, disruptions on our end or with official sources, and security measures may temporarily restrict use.
8. Liability
8.1 We are not liable for errors or omissions in official sources and in the digitised copies of third parties.
8.2 For our own services, specifically derivations, attributions, translations, estimates, availability and interfaces, we are liable only in cases of intent or gross negligence (Art. 100 CO). To the extent permitted by law, liability for slight negligence, for indirect and consequential damages, for loss of profit, loss of data and for third-party claims is excluded.
8.3 For auxiliaries, suppliers and processors, specifically providers of cloud, infrastructure, AI and data services, we are liable only to the extent that we ourselves acted with intent or gross negligence in selecting, instructing or supervising them (Art. 101 para. 2 CO).
8.4 In the case of paid Register Access, our liability per damaging event and in total per contract year is limited to the amount you paid for access in the twelve months preceding the event. In the case of free use, we are not liable to the extent permitted by law.
8.5 Liability for intent and gross negligence, liability for personal injury and any mandatory statutory liability remain unaffected.
8.6 Indemnification. If you use the details contrary to section 4, in particular to build profiles of natural persons, for automated mass queries, for passing on or reselling, for advertising without consent or for investigating private individuals, or if your use infringes third-party rights or laws, specifically data protection, unfair competition or personality rights, you shall indemnify and hold harmless blueSky Information GmbH and its corporate bodies against all resulting third-party claims and compensate us for the damages incurred, including reasonable costs of legal enforcement and legal defence. We will inform you of such claims and coordinate the defence with you. Fines imposed on us or our corporate bodies are not covered by this.
9. Intellectual Property
The official publications do not belong to us. The design, compilation, texts, derivations and software of registerbuch.ch are protected. You may link to individual pages and quote individual details, stating the source; the systematic appropriation of the directory or substantial parts thereof is prohibited (section 4.3).
The digitised copies of the printed SOGC originate from the ETH Library (E-Periodica); their terms of use apply to them.
10. Register Access: Contract, Price and Termination
You purchase Register Access on protime.ai. The contract is concluded with blueSky Information GmbH and is governed by the Protime Terms of Use, specifically regarding subscription, payment and termination. In the event of discrepancies, the latter take precedence for the contract.
Register Access is a subscription with a fixed term of one year, which extends by one year at a time unless terminated; you may terminate up to the end of the current term. The contract is a continuing obligation concerning access to an information service and not a mandate within the meaning of Art. 394 ff. CO.
In summary: CHF 100 a year. Final price in CHF, no VAT (not VAT-registered). Annual subscription, renews automatically for one year, cancellable at any time to the end of the term. Anyone requesting a refund within 30 days of purchase will receive a full refund, without giving reasons.
10a. Archive Package (Publications prior to 2002)
The Archive Package is an add-on to Register Access and requires it. It opens up publications of the printed SOGC from the volumes prior to 2002 (currently 1994 to 2001), which we have read from the digitised copies of the ETH Library using optical character recognition: company pages and the status as of a key date for these years as well. Access is always via a company. A search for persons across the decades and the compilation of profiles of persons from the historical data are not offered and are prohibited; the purpose limitation under section 4.3 also applies to the archive.
Archive entries are marked as read using optical character recognition. Reading errors are possible, a company is assigned by name and registered office where no register number is available, and the details are not an official extract. We accept no liability for reading errors and assignment errors in the digitised copies; otherwise, section 8 applies. Every access to the archive is logged with account, company and time (privacy notice).
Price: CHF 200 per year. Final price in CHF, no VAT (not VAT-registered). Annual subscription, renews automatically for one year, cancellable at any time to the end of the term. If Register Access ends, access to the archive also ends; the Archive Package runs until the end of its paid term and is then not renewed. Section 10 applies accordingly.
10b. Additional Query Package
If the monthly quota under section 4.2 is not sufficient, customers with Register Access can buy an additional package: 3'000 further queries for CHF 30, final price in CHF, no VAT (not VAT-registered), as a one-off payment. The package is valid until the end of the calendar month in which it was paid for; unused queries expire and are not refunded. At most three packages per calendar month. Anyone who needs more can write to kontakt@registerbuch.ch.
The additional package does not change the purpose limitation (section 4.3) or the other usage limits (section 4.2); it does not permit automated mass queries.
11. Amendments
We may amend these terms. The applicable version is available on this page with its date. We will notify customers with Register Access of material amendments in advance by email.
12. Applicable Law and Place of Jurisdiction
Swiss law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and conflict-of-law provisions. The place of jurisdiction is Lucerne, to the extent permitted by law. Mandatory places of jurisdiction, in particular the consumer forum under Art. 32 CPC, remain reserved. If you are a consumer with your habitual residence outside Switzerland, the mandatory protective provisions and places of jurisdiction under the law of your place of residence remain reserved (Art. 114 and 120 PILA, Lugano Convention); otherwise, Swiss law applies.
13. Language
These terms are drawn up in German. Translations are provided for understanding; in the event of discrepancies, the German version takes precedence.
14. Severability Clause
If any provision of these terms is invalid in whole or in part, the remaining provisions shall remain valid. The invalid provision shall be replaced by the permissible provision that comes closest to its purpose.
Questions regarding these terms: kontakt@registerbuch.ch
Translation of the German version of 21 October 2026. In the event of discrepancies or ambiguities, the German version shall prevail.
